Tom Farsides
My research interest concerns factors that facilitate or inhibit positive other-regard. Positive other-regard includes activism, altruism, campaigning, charity, citizenship, consideration, courtesy, donating (e.g., blood, organs), helping, prejudice-reduction, volunteering, and a variety of other prosocial behaviours. Important facilitators include a sense of caring, duty, empathy, or responsibility. Important inhibitors include moral myopia (short-sightedness) and selfishness. I also have a special interest in qualitative research methods.
